.@NYCMayor Mamdani’s appointed advisory commission is recommending an 18.2% raise for himself and other elected officials purportedly because of inflation, yet his self-appointed Rent Guidelines Board — which is supposed to consider inflation in setting rents— froze rents for two years.
A question for the mayor:
How is this fair or appropriate?
@ShabbosK They're proving your point. He said it's more than economic model, that he doesn't want to leave his family. Well, the people coming to America from those countries don't want to leave their families either. That's how important the economic model of the place where you live is.
@ci_case your proof is they used the word "corporation" which means nothing. you don't seem to understand that.
what other proof is there that they are large corporations and not just corporations?
@ci_case and you haven't proved anything you said either. all you said was "corporations" which you seem to equate with size.
the word "corporation" means nothing. it's costs like $100 to set up a corporation.
@ci_case@LaRepublica17@notchrisvolpe even mom and pops will set up a corporation before they purchase it. the fact that it's an acquisition changes nothing.
actually many of those could be mom and pops transferring from individual ownership to a corporate entity.
@MrHydeRager@mcuban Is there a freeze on expenses? When income stays the same and expenses go up, eventually expenses exceed income and you lose money.
@mcuban And it won't work for tenants either because now landlords won't properly fix and maintain their apartments since they're just gonna lose money on them anyway.
@mcuban Will rent control work? For who? For people who worked and saved their whole life to buy an apartment building to provide for their family like so many do? Will it work for them?
What do you think?
