Exxon should consider itself fortunate to be excluded from Venezuela. The oilfields anarchy that caused Exxon to exit Colombia in 2023 hint at what it could face in Venezuela: guerrilla "war taxes," sabotage, kidnappings, etc. A long, ugly conflict may lie ahead.

@dougnorlen With crude in low $60s/bbl, there’s neither incentive for oil majors to do new U.S. offshore E&P with high regulatory/reputational risk, nor any credible energy “emergency” that might allow Trump to ignore federal/state enviro laws. Lots of easier pickings elsewhere.

Floating #OffshoreWind is *one* of the solutions for the duck curve. Its power generation peaks early evenings, just as solar output disappears and consumption spikes. And typically continues all night as battery power ends yet late owls fiddle on internet and charge their cars.
