MAY WARNING.
Signages saying - unprotected beach, no lifeguards, presence of rip currents. And yet, @jessiecruzat reported the Ateneo Basketball Team trained in this area.
WHY?! Ano ang pananagutan kung meron man ng eskuwelahan at ng mga school authorities or coaches?
I think the student-athletes are also victims here. Hopefully, they have the courage to say the truth.
Nagtiwala yung family ni Divine sa inyo considering that his family lives continents away from here tapos masisira yung dream niya of making a mark sa sport just because of a mismanaged team-building activity. That pain is indescribable din tbvh.
“If that already feels excessive to you, maybe the problem is not the outrage. Maybe the problem is the instinct to protect the comfort of the institution before the grief of the mother.”
defending Ateneo to the point of shielding from accountability

“We opened our doors and ensured everyone's safety.
You know what’s insensitive?
Former Ateneo players being defensive of the institution when people are clamoring for accountability; when the families of the victims are saying they are being kept in the dark. That’s what is insensitive. Nobody asked their piece.
She says she is left with many unanswered questions, why her son met such a fate, why he was allegedly not rescued in time, and why weights were reportedly attached to his arms and feet while swimming. She is now calling for justice and a full investigation into the incident.
Wdym Ateneo released the statement first BEFORE informing the family of the deceased in private? Napakasahol. The victims and their families deserve better.

admu’s statement on rene baterbonia’s death was deeply insensitive. wdym his mother, his family, had not been properly informed before the university made a public statement?! the family deserved to hear it first & be given time to process the loss. prestigious univ pero ganito?!
Rene’s last message to his coach before going to Manila. 💔

As a sports fan, I can’t help but feel sad for these aspiring athletes. They have their whole lives ahead of them, especially yung rookie na nagsisimula pa lang bumuo ng pangarap. May you both rest in peace 🕊️
