I’m absolutely shocked but delighted to confirm I got an MBE in the New Years Honours List. First thought was with mum and dad and wishing they could witness this. Very proud Teessider. Still can’t quite believe it.
Ralph Miliband fled the holocaust, fought the Nazis and became one of the most significant socialist thinkers of the late 20th C.
Liz truss crashed the economy and now served as an increasingly incoherent and toxic mouthpiece for the global far right.
Good morning political nerds.
The next couple of days are ours.
FWIW (which is nothing) I think there will be a lot of shy Trump voters - more than the polls indicate
Training run time.
This weekend I’ll be running my 11th marathon of 2026 for @MindCharity
I’ve raised just under £1.5k so far but still some way to reaching my £2k goal.
I’d love it if you could spread the word.
Thank you. 💙

George passed 28 years ago today.
Walks into the Red Lion in Redcar. Served by Olive. Both divorced. They start ‘courting’
Mum gets stomach cancer.
The fear being if she died the bastard would claim me.
They marry - too quickly really - and George adopts me.
My hero.
RIP George
Oh my.
My ‘real’ dad used to batter mum in front of me.
Thankfully she eventually threw him out.
I’ll never forget the bastard.
As a single mum in the 60s - a barmaid - she was hardly a catch for a Catholic
Thankfully she met George.
For which I will be eternally grateful
There are many people who day in, day out care for a loved one who is elderly, disabled or depressed. It requires effort, patience & sacrifice. It can be a lonely full- time job & can take an emotional toll. You are all truly unsung heroes & the purest of souls, I mean that. 🙌🏼
@msjanebond007 I’m just off for a coffee with a friend. She knew I’d been to Gozo and asked if I recommended.
Her and her husband had a holiday there as a consequence and absolutely loved it.
Off to hear all the details.
I miss the place
@dozzap85 When they told me I was being adopted I thought they were giving me away.
I asked ‘where do I go now?’
I was the happiest little lad when they confirmed I was going nowhere
