Avoid Downed Power Lines: Please stay away from downed power lines. For updates on power restoration, contact MidAmerican Energy directly. They are working diligently to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
City crews are actively working to clear debris and reopen these blocked streets. Community members are urged to avoid the southeast portion of Urbandale to allow crews to work efficiently and safely.
Urbandale, IA – The City of Urbandale has initiated a response to the significant weather event that impacted the southeastern portion of the city earlier today. Initial surveys have revealed several streets blocked by downed power lines and trees.

As a reminder... Tomorrows parade route will travel north on 70th Street from Oliver Smith and then west on Aurora Ave to the 8500 block. This closure will begin at approximately 8:45AM (parade starts at 10AM) and will remain until the parade has finished.

I'm just sitting through an update from Polk County Emergency Management. There is a lot of damage in the area, but thank goodness everyone is safe in the immediate metro area. There will be a vegetative removal plan for Urbandale. Please stay tuned while that gets organized.
