Keep the luxury tax, but have some amount of the overage fee money split amongst the teams that are below the cap to raise it.
Still let’s players get their money, but creates more competitive balance.

Watched this Netflix movie “Hustle” starring Adam Sandler and saw former Pelicans GM Dell Demps in it. Credits say Demps was the movie’s basketball technical advisor. Demps’ son Riley (who played at Newman) is in one of the early basketball scenes.
