FOMA (noun) — Fear of Missing AI
/ˈfōmə/
FOMA is a persistent fear that you are "falling behind" on AI and every minute you're not prompting, building agents, or vibe-coding brings you closer to inevitable replacement in the post-AGI economy.
FOMA is exacerbated by listening to VC podcasts, reading clickbait articles about Open Claw, and refreshing your X feed like it's your ex-girlfriend's Instagram.
Remedies to FOMA include: touching grass, talking to humans who don't know what an MCP is, actually trying to use Open Claw and realizing it's a total piece of shit, and watching as your vibe-coded masterpiece breaks eighteen different ways by Tuesday.
There's a toxic culture coming out of the AI industry that keeps trying to get us not to think.
The message is everywhere. Don’t read the code, just vibe-code. Don’t try to understand all the text, just let AI summarize it. Don’t bother educating yourself, it’s too late.
Don’t worry about the errors. Trust that everything will be fixed in the next version.
The theme is the same. Don’t think too hard. Just keep swallowing the slop.
I own a La Liga 2 club and pay for four DAZN subscriptions, plus Movistar, Amazon Prime, and probably something else I’m forgetting, just so my family and I can watch our matches. Yet when I travel outside Spain or Europe, it’s often impossible to watch our games.
May I suggest that, in addition to focusing on combating piracy, La Liga make a real, concerted effort to explore viable, convenient, and fully legal international viewing options?
Leagues like MLB, F1, and the NFL have built accessible global streaming models. There’s no reason Spanish football shouldn’t aim for the same standard.

I've watched Lost in Translation more times than I can count and it still gets me every single time.
Charlotte is newly married. Her husband is busy, distracted, always somewhere else even when he's right there. He's not cruel. He's just boring. Absent in the way that people become absent when they stop trying to be interesting to you. And then she meets Bob. Older. Married. An actor with nothing left to prove and nothing left to lose.
And suddenly everything is alive again. They're singing karaoke at 2 AM. They're running through Tokyo like the city belongs to them. They're laughing at things that aren't even funny because everything feels funny when you're with someone who makes you feel seen. It's magic. That's what it looks like. That's what it feels like. Connection in its purest, most intoxicating form. But then they part. And that's it. That's the whole movie.
I think about this a lot. How the most electric connections often have nowhere to go. How the excitement at the beginning is never the truth of the thing, it's just the introduction. Bob and Charlotte never had to find out what comes after. The silence. The staying even when the sparkle fades. They got to live in the beautiful part forever and walk away before it got boring.
Most of us don't get that luxury. Most of us have to sit across the table in silence and decide if we're going to stay anyway.
This afternoon, I sat in front of my desk. Opened not the SDK documentation, but its github repo. Read the files. Understood the logic. Stepped into each function and method. Derived how it could work. Wrote the simplest solution ever. It works.
THE FEELING. UNPARALLELED.
I just solved a complex coding issue that was haunting me for weeks. No LLM, MCP, or Agentic coding assistant was able to give me a working solution. I provided everything I could: whole repo context, documentation links, and all the prompting trick. Nothing.
Si se me permite, todo empezó justo en el momento que cancelas un vuelo a la gala del Balón de Oro porque no se lo dan. Gala en la que, por cierto, el entrenador si estaba premiado. Esa decisión es irremontable.
