October 29th 1946: Surgeon-Captain Rick Jolly OBE, the only man to be decorated by both sides in the Falklands War was born in Hong Kong. Jolly treated over 600 wounded British & Argentine men. The Queen authorised Jolly to wear his Argentine medal alongside his British medals.
@Lgmarotta@DrMarcusP Really? To my knowledge, neither myself or any ancestor has committed Piracy. My only famous seafaring relative saved 873 people and a dog at sea, which is the most saved by anyone ever. No "piracy" in my lineage whatsoever 😉
@diegotruninger@TruthJavelin I think there are two Milei's: the one who took on the economy with chainsaw in hand was good... Then there's the whole "Malvinas" thing and the second he started shouting about that, his good policies went out of the window. There's a correlation here.
¡EXTRA EXTRA! Golpean a Javier Milei en Mítin en Catamarca
El mandatario argentino fue agredido en Catamarca, cuando se disponía después de un mitin a una conferencia con simpatizantes, cancela agenda.

@HiddenHistoryYT Only three survivors from Fuso in the battle of the Suriago Strait. The ship which actually did most of the damage was USS Phoenix (later the ARA General Belgrano) which battered the Fuso to atoms. She was a very old ship by then. I wrote about it myself 🤗
@Lautaro_Chile Argentina has no jurisdiction here. It isn't imposing some law (which it cannot legally impose) it is bullying and trying to make Chile back down. If Chile backs down now, Argentina will always treat it like a vassal state. Send the ship and give it air cover.
@Lautaro_Chile Argentina has no jurisdiction there whatsoever. They seem to think they can invent a law and it becomes everybody else's law too. Again, as I've said before, if Chile backs down now, it will always be a vassal state to Argentina. It cannot back down.
An interesting new article on Operation Impi, a final plan to take out the Argentine Exocet threat. Great article although very much overblown with press hype. In real terms they were literally trying to find anything for the SBS to still do by this time.

@rogerlorton Lots of missions were left on the planning table which were past their use by date. I applaud Mariano for his work, but think the press tried to sex it up a bit with an idea that it was still a thing by then. I'd heard of it, but not more than that.
@Adrudiaz2022 That's all in the files. It's not been a secret ever. I've covered it in two books. Almost all files were declassified in 2012. Very few remain. When will Argentina fully declassify its files? At least ours have a release date on them 😉
@chileliberal Don't worry, even my friends asked me if I was John Stanley... It's a pseudonym. I know someone who does know who it is, but he's keeping it a secret.
@GermanHanacek@chileliberal I think you're mistaken. Chile looks after its own interests, and the days of Argentina treating Chile as a vassal state are over. Only Argentina is being aggressive here. Nobody else is talking about weapons. You're all whipped up because a sad political nutcase is shouting.
@AuthLMMountford Well, we knew they had no more Exocets and the war was about over, so I think like Kettledrum, it was one of those plans left on the planning table which people vaguely shuffled towards until it was obvious it wasn't needed.
@ellobofedozen@gord_eu Argentina was nothing to do with that. They wrapped Top Gear when the three presenters left together, and new presenters failed to deliver. That's irrelevant: Argentina attacked Top Gear out of politicised hatred, and shot itself in the foot.
