This 👇 is insane and really illustrates how far France has fallen.

France's Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, now says that anyone "who is distrustful of the European Union" is basically a useful idiot for Putin.

The implication being that distrust or criticism of the EU is not a legitimate democratic position anymore but a form of collaboration with "the enemy."

Which is absolutely insane given France's recent history: De Gaulle was famously opposed to the very kind of supranational Europe that the EU has become, and so have been a number of major French political figures both on the right (like Philippe Séguin) or the left (like Jean-Pierre Chevènement).

Not to mention the 55% of French voters who rejected the EU Constitution in 2005 (and whose vote was ignored because that very constitution was adopted later on regardless under the Treaty of Lisbon).

In effect, by Barrot's criteria - heck, by the current French government criteria since he is speaking as the government's Foreign Minister - De Gaulle, Séguin, Chevènement and 55% of the French population would be classified as Russian agents 🤦

The craziest aspect of it, if you take a step back, is that, fundamentally, people like De Gaulle who opposed EU integration did so because they cared first and foremost about France - about its independence, its sovereignty, its right to govern itself.

Calling that a form of foreign allegiance is just absurd and a complete inversion of reality: love of country and patriotism is being rebranded as treason.

More worryingly, this also shows the current state of the "democratic debate" in France, which is neither democratic, nor a debate.

Not democratic because this is the French government treating legitimate and reasonable positions as treason.

And not a debate because there's nothing left to debate: the EU has become a dogma, and distrust of it has become disloyalty and taboo.

One can legitimately be afraid that this is the road to a form of totalitarian ideology across Europe, dressed up as centrism, where the only acceptable position is unquestioning loyalty to supranational institutions whose defenders, tellingly, would rather question the patriotism of their critics than submit themselves to the verdict of the people.

Here is an FBI document showing that Schiff was promised head of the CIA job by Hillary.

He was so angry when Hillary lost and President Trump won, that Schiff leaked false but classified "report" by John Brennan's operative that I had an affair with President Trump's National Security Advisor and that I was a Russian spy.

Hilariously the narrative here is basically that the fall of Syria is partly Beijing's fault because they expelled radicalized Uyghur fighters who then went and did in Syria what they couldn't do at home.

Knowing this journalist it's no doubt meant as a criticism of China, but she ironically does a great job vindicating Beijing's core argument : that the threat by those radical extremists was serious enough to justify extraordinary security measures.

And, by glamorizing them and calling them mere "militants", the author also unwittingly reveals what many in the West were hoping to see happen in Xinjiang: a bloody Syria-style collapse and a takeover of the region by Al-Qaeda types... In everything I've seen about the book, there doesn't seem to be an ounce of a notion that maybe, just maybe, people in Xinjiang - including the Uyghurs - are better off in a peaceful region with world-class infrastructure than the ruins the book's heroes left behind in Syria.

In the first photo, Syrian flags fly at the edge of the occupied Golan.

From that tent, Syrians living under Israeli occupation used microphones to speak to their families across the separation line.

That image told you everything you needed to know:

A Syrian tent.

A Syrian flag.

Syrian land under Israeli occupation.

Now look at the second picture.

Same tent.

Same place.

Same microphones.

But the Syrian flags are gone.

In their place: Israeli flags.

And this is where the entire mythology of the “liberation of Syria” collapses in one image.

The Golan was not liberated.

The occupation did not end.

The land did not return to Syria.

The only thing that changed was the flag above the tent.

Yesterday, that place was a symbol of Syrians refusing to accept occupation.

Today, the occupation’s flag flies over it.

And they still want to lecture us about “liberation.”

Liberation of what, exactly?

The land is still occupied.

Israel is still there.

The difference is that Damascus now has a regime far more despised by the Syrians in the Golan.

That is what changed.

Not the occupation.

The regime in Damascus.
