Owning Up to Leadership Failures and Political Responsibility
This morning, I listened to the British Prime Minister’s speech announcing his planned resignation in July. As a keen observer of global politics, my primary interest lies in examining what successful nations do right and the structural factors that cause others to lag or struggle with governance and development.
The Prime Minister’s planned resignation comes amid mounting public frustration over a stagnant economy, a worsening cost-of-living crisis, and a perceived failure to honour key campaign pledges.
Looking inward in our dear country, we can recall our own situation. Before 2015, our President on several occasions championed the call for the then President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians. During the Chibok school kidnapping incident, he demanded the immediate resignation of President Jonathan, arguing that the government had failed in its most fundamental duty of protecting lives.
During the 2023 election campaign, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made several promises, including improved electricity supply. He also challenged the electorate not to vote for him for a second term if he failed to deliver on those commitments—particularly in providing stable power, fighting corruption, and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
At present, however, these conditions have worsened. Electricity supply remains unreliable, insecurity has intensified in many areas, including kidnappings, and economic hardship has deepened rather than eased. Similar concerns are reflected across other critical sectors such as security, infrastructure, transportation, and anti-corruption efforts, all of which have regressed. We are in the worst possible condition.
I, therefore, join Nigerians of goodwill in calling for the resignation of the President over monumental failure in governance. Such a gesture would help enthrone a political culture rooted in accountability and responsibility, rather than further entrenching impunity. It would also send a powerful message that public office is a sacred trust, not an entitlement, and help build a society in which future leaders understand that failure carries consequences. Only by ending the culture of impunity can we secure a better future for the society our children will inherit in a New Nigeria that is possible. -PO
A relay is an electrically operated switch used to control high-power circuits with a low-power signal. When voltage is applied to the energizing coil, current flows through the copper winding and creates a magnetic field.
UK Prime Minister, Kier Stammer resigned from office...
Anyday APC and Tinubu compares Nigeria to UK when it comes to tax, compare Nigeria to UK in terms of leadership also.
A fierce political clash erupted as Peter Obi urged President Bola Tinubu to resign, drawing parallels with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s decision to step down as Labour leader. Obi argued that worsening economic hardship, insecurity, unreliable power supply and unmet campaign promises justify Tinubu’s exit, recalling that Tinubu once demanded Goodluck Jonathan’s resignation over similar concerns. The Presidency dismissed the call as “childish” and “undemocratic,” insisting Nigeria’s presidential system differs from the UK’s parliamentary model. It highlighted Tinubu’s achievements in economic reforms, security operations, infrastructure development, power sector changes and rising government revenues, while accusing Obi of ignoring progress and distorting facts. The UK prime minister job is one you can stay on if you’re not doing well, either you’re forced to resign or you will lose re-election, there’s no “Let’s give them time” or “He did well here and here”.
Even your party members will be the first to make sure you don’t come back and if you ask me, that’s how it should be, if you’re not able to do what you’re elected to do, leave the job.
But in Nigeria, we are still re-enforcing a man who can’t secure the citizens, it’s more than a month now, kids and teachers were abducted.
A roadmap for learning robotics! 🔥
📌 If you’re self-learning robotics, this is genuinely one of the better repos to save for later!
This GitHub repo is basically a curated learning map for anyone trying to get into robotics without drowning in random bookmarks.
SOOOOO many free courses on almost every topic related to robotics, 5k ⭐️ on GitHub says it all...
If I had had this list during my studies, my career might have turned out differently.
But I didn't, so I the only thing I can do is to recommend it and give it to you now...
It’s a structured collection of links to:
→ robotics courses (online + university)
→ ROS / embedded / hardware basics
→ math & algorithms that actually matter for robots
A clean, opinionated list that helps you go from “where do I start?” question as I had after graduating :D
And it’s open-source, so you can contribute resources too.
