Guys and gals, Thanks for following me over these past 10 plus years. I am signing off. No health problems, just tired. May our God richly bless you all! Bob
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44)
The verb “draws” here, “helko,” is translated “drag” in both James 2:6 and Acts 21:30. It never means “to woo” or to “winsomely draw a person to oneself."
“God the Father cannot be against us. He is our Father; He cannot be against His own children.
He has chosen us; He will not cast us away.
He has adopted us into His family; He will never discard us.”
Charles Spurgeon
“Don’t use past victories to live complacently today.” Tony Merida
"Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Cor. 10:12)
“The Huns, the Goths, and the Visigoths…were real people. Indeed, they were people of violence who lived out the creed of right make right.
Their creed was a mere extension of ethical relativism and the notion that right is grounded in personal preference.”
Dr. RC Sproul
"For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?” (1 Corinthians 4:7).
Everything we have, even our next breath, is a gift of God. This is true of our salvation as well.
To validate their standing before God, perfectionists and legalists look to their past achievements.
Christians, saved by God’s grace alone, look only to Christ’s blood.
Understanding our weaknesses and failings is actually a good thing because the awareness of them makes us more dependent upon Christ, through Whom our strength comes.
I was in a desperate situation when the Lord saved me over 50 years ago, and I still need His help desperately.
But He has given me hope and strength for every situation in life.
AS CHRISTIANS, we are to "fear" the Lord, but we're not to be afraid of the Lord.
To “fear” the Lord gives us boldness and strength, strong confidence and security.
“His eye foresees our greatest good,
While we at best are weak,
And thus in wisdom He withholds
The boon that oft we seek...
Then murmur not, but trust in Him
Who knows our every care,
And better far than we can ask,
The Lord will answer prayer.”
Fanny Crosby
[‘Doing my own thing’] “Here the will of the individual becomes supreme and every person their own god.
It is the grasping after moral autonomy by which society itself becomes impossible, and civilization becomes barbarian.”
Dr. RC Sproul
“The devil is mighty, but God is almighty; Satan is strong, but all strength belongs to God.
What is Satan, after all, but an enemy who has had his head broken? He is a broken-headed dragon.”
Charles Spurgeon
We must never forget that God is responsible to no one for His actions and judgments.
Our sinful minds are at enmity with God’s truth. Even as believers, we still struggle to believe the deep, difficult things of His Word.
"As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13). ”
Mark Higham
“The biblical concept of sin includes the notion of everyone’s doing what is right in his own eyes.
This reflects he judgment of the Creator on the idea of rights being grounded simply on personal preference.”
Dr. RC Sproul
We must not allow our traditions or traditional way of thinking to stand in the way of receiving God’s truth.
God’s Word must stand supreme above all of man’s traditions.
