I sent this to my department today as a TL;DR version of the new @ASRA_Society Guidelines on infection control. Feel free to use if it helps! There's a QR code to scan for the full article at the end...
⚠️ We call for an urgent revision of current societal guidelines recommending a 1-week pre-operative discontinuation interval of semaglutide in patients undergoing elective procedures under anaesthesia ⚠️
Peri-op semaglutide use up to 10 days before elective surgical procedures was associated with an increased risk of increased residual gastric content despite appropriate fasting.

Excellent discussion at Crit Care GR about what we can learn from aviation safety to help improve patient care in our ICUs - and a fun excuse to ask my pilot dad a million questions while preparing for the talk (and give it from his office) ✈️ @HopkinsACCM
So grateful to finally meet the famous @EMARIANOMD today! Loved nerding out about how regional anesthesia is changing the world, Baltimore charm, and why hospitals all seem to have one building whose floors are a few stairs off kilter from the others 🤔
This morning I had the privilege of giving grand rounds at @HopkinsACCM in historic Hurd Hall with my son in the audience ❤
Named after Dr. Henry Hurd, a psychiatrist and first Director of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, this lecture hall has hosted speakers for over 100 years!
It's so wonderful to have one of my mentors @EMARIANOMD giving grand rounds @HopkinsACCM on #regionalanesthesia role in #perioperativecare and looking beyond 48hr outcomes. We need to adapt and individualize patient care while understanding the healthcare systems & cost/benefits
One of my favorite blocks - low risk, easy to perform, and it can help you get knee pain patients home instead of admitting for PT and placement. Here's how to do a genicular nerve block (1/5)
