imo you literally get that “spark” all over again. everything is a new experience to your kid. seeing a bug? coolest thing ever. eating ice cream. amazing. going for a car ride. painting a picture. even every day normal activities like grocery shopping are an incredible experience with them. holidays like christmas, easter, halloween etc all feel like how they felt like when you were a kid again. everything is exciting again because you are seeing the world for the first time through their eyes

Lillian’s PICU Dr. was gracious and came to the waiting room to answer any and all questions. Dr. Tran pulled up a chair and spoke honest answers to the best of his abilities. He has been in constant contact with THE CDC expert in this incredibly rare case. He confirmed it’s a parasitic amoeba that is contracted from warm, fresh, stagnant water. Over the next 48-72 hours we are praying for response from Lillian in any form. She is very sick. He is hopeful, but injury is significant. With the prayer and willingness of our community, he was blown away at how fast the meds were delivered and how fast they are able to administer them. She’s on 8 meds currently to treat symptoms and ultimately kill this bacteria.

We are asking for very specific prayers. Lillian needs the drugs to take action. She needs little to no neurological damage and any damage done to be reversed. Lillian needs a miracle. These next 2-3 days are critical. Cover her with your prayers. Cover Rebecca and Daniel as their world is completely upside down. Cover their baby boys. Lift this family to the Highest. Plead for mercy and miracles.

postpartum depression is a real psychiatric disorder that affects roughly 1 in 7 women after giving birth and no, men cannot suffer from it

during pregnancy, a woman's hormonal environment changes completely: estrogen and progesterone rise enormously, along with neurosteroids like allopregnanolone that directly affect GABA signaling in the brain (responsible for reducing stress in the brain)

after birth, the placenta comes out (creating a massive internal open wound on top of everything) and within days all those hormones crash.
the female brain and body have to readjust to one of the most extreme hormonal swings a human being can experience, while she's recovering from childbirth, barely sleeping, breastfeeding, and responsible for keeping a completely helpless brand new human alive.

men simply cannot experience that

yes, fathers can get depressed after having a child too. but their body didn't spend 9 months building a new endocrine organ and then lose it in a matter of minutes. still, also male depression should not be taken lightly. it's less common, but can become severe.

in roughly 1-2 cases per 1000 births, women can also develop postpartum psychosis and completely lose contact with reality: delusions, paranoia, mania, hallucinations, etc. (obviously this doesn't justify or excuse murdering kids)

the fact that hormonal swings around childbirth can, in rare cases, contribute to women behaving in completely irrational and even dangerous ways should be taken seriously and talked about, not reduced to "women are selfish and don't like being de-centered"

and this is why saying shit like this is actually dangerous and Matt is incredibly irresponsible for saying this (either genuinely ignorant or evil, or both)

a woman suffering from PPD can already feel like she's failing as a mother (she's not) and now you have people telling her that she's not sick, she's just selfish.

even worse, you have husbands listening to people like matt and thinking their wife just needs to toughen up instead of realizing that something may actually be wrong and helping her.

some women are unlucky enough to suffer from postpartum depression, some are even more unlucky and marry a man like matt who tells them it's because they're selfish.

the confidence with which people talk about things they very clearly know nothing about will never stop amazing me.

The enemy convinces me so often that I am incapable and weak. I find myself falling into that same trap repeatedly time after time, listening to that fool‘s voice instead of listening to God‘s voice.

God‘s voice tells me that I am His chosen child. He tells me that NOTHING can stop me through Christ. He assures me that I’m made perfect through His act on the cross and that nothing can separate us because of that. God‘s voice tells me that that the Holy Spirit that brought Christ back from the dead lives in me, and in doing so gives me power to accomplish fully ALL tasks God gives me.

Satan wants us to remain weak, which apart from Christ we absolutely are. The enemy will tell us things like, “this sin is too great for you to get out of. You have committed it for too long to the point where it is a part of you. Get real! It’ll never happen!”

Far too often we foolishly we believe him and it keeps us trapped in an invisible mud. Satan wants us to remain in this state because in it we don’t realize our full potential!

GOD CALLS US OUT OF THIS STATE AND TELLS US THAT WE ARE ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF DOING ANYTHING IN HIS HOLY NAME!!! We are not only able to demolish the strongholds of sin that are in our lives through Christ but we are given the authority to rebuke any and all ungodly spirits that come before us.

OF COURSE SATAN WANTS YOU TO STAY STUCK! You are a threat because of He who is in you, (the Holy Spirit of God) if you accept Christ as Lord!

So stop listening to that fool. When you are made new in Christ Jesus there is nothing that can stop you from moving forward. Stop believing the one who brings death but instead believe the one who brings life! If you are not confident in yourself that’s a good thing, but don’t let it stop there. Be confident in Him who is alive in you!
Through Him, all things are possible!!!!
