just remembered that i hadn't logged into this account in months. and now that i'm here i'm gonna flex a little bc i just finished the first physical all-text novel i've read for fun in like two years and also completed my 2022 reading challenge (thanks manga)
i so took all the time i had during my gap year for granted bc wow i don’t even have time to sleep properly now and also i’m sick for the second time in a week???
i’m about to finish reading my first non-audio or comic-form book of the year and it’s a 230 page book about general linguistics lol who am i (a diligent student, that’s who)
okay there’s a lot I can’t praise about finland but one thing I love is how mostly nonexistent the social hierarchies are. I mean can you spot our president from this book fair picture? (hint: he’s wearing a brown jacket)
I also saw him at the last fair two years ago and I’ve seen the previous president in moominworld and one earlier president visited our elementary school lol
@novatjerneld not from an english speaking country (finland) but studying english in uni and my professors apologised for only being able to offer british and american spoken english courses soo. the infatuation with british english is very prominent in our lower english education tho
it’s my first day of uni and i’m kinda sad because thanks to work i didn’t have time to draw an emotional support aled last on my rainbow tote bag… by next week i’ll have it i swear
i’m so happy no one has to spend that much on books they use a few months anymore but also what the fuck am i supposed to do with math and english textbooks that literally no one will take
finland made secondary education mandatory and thus also free starting this year and now i’m on my knees begging for anyone to take away the rest of the books i spent over a 1000 euros on while in school
i kind of feel like privating all my videos before uni starts. booktube was a gap year thing that i couldn’t even keep up while working so there’s no way i’ll be able to pick it back up while studying and working.
that is to say: i’m not really going anywhere and i’d still love to interact with people here, but i still feel like closing this chapter in my life somehow. also i don’t want to risk anyone stumbling across my channel somehow……
not to mention how i haven’t even been able to read one single physical novel this year, or keep up with booktube or booktwitter. i had a ton of fun while doing this but i feel i’m much more suited to the role of a bystander who occasionally tweets into the void.
i’m starting my first year of university in a week and i’m only excited because now i can get student discount and thus finally replace my glasses that are barely held together by some glue and a paperclip
