Ex-teacher interested in using research evidence to improve learning. Living in South Wales. Head of Programmes @EducEndowFoundn but views here are my own.
Was great to be back today.
A 🧵about swimming and menopause. 1/13
Peri-menopause is hugely misunderstood & appallingly poorly managed by most health services, not usually because of a lack of will, but because of a complete lack of comprehensive, appropriately designed care.
Taylor Swift has donated enough money to cover the food bills for an entire year across 11 food banks and 8 community pantries in Liverpool.
She has done this for every city she's toured in the UK meaning she’s done more than the govt has in 14 years to eradicate food poverty.
This is an excellent bit of comms by Labour. Jon Richardson, in a bath with a beer, telling you how Sunak made his millions from the downfall of our economy.
Really important message, brilliantly delivered.
The Tories say Labour's plans would cost £2,000 - but if you apply their methodology to their own (published) tax plans it works out at a £3,000 tax rise.

💡 Did you know that we’re increasing our support for the post-16 sector?
Help us to build up the evidence base around maths teaching in the post-16 sector by taking part in one of our new projects.

@lifeatthenest I really disliked this as a teacher in secondary, especially new to a school where it felt like it might be because they didn't know your name. Loved the move to a smaller school where everyone used Miss Rhodes, and first name if kids were out.
@benniekara I like the black powder for on a summer lunchtime or around exercise, texture takes getting used to, I often whizz half a banana in with a hand blender. I like the hot and savoury, it’s basically a pot noodle - mac n cheese and curries best IMO.
@tombennett71 Maybe an odd take but how is this even a revolution? Students of philosophy have been framing arguments as discussions with Socrates since Plato. Socratic discussion is perhaps the most established philosophical method. AI is just window dressing.
@DrSamSims This is compelling, Sam. Assuming tests quite broad, do you have a suggestion for better selection mechanism for interventions? Would teachers conduct more proximal tests that might be a more reliable indicator of need for a more proximal intervention? Or something else?
I've seen many school leaders, particularly in Research Schools, enacting successful change using "A school's guide to implementation". Can't wait to see what is achieved in the system with this updated guidance. Congrats to authors @Sharples_J, Jon Eaton and Jamila Boughelaf.
NEW: Today, we’ve published our new edition of “A School’s Guide to Implementation”, a resource designed to support those working in education settings to make changes to practice meaningful, and long-lasting.
