6ELA participated in an inquiry based Gallery Walk this week! Students examined photos of refugees in history & in present day. A great start to some RST work following our reading of A Long Walk to Water! Great collab with Mr. T, Mrs. O & Miss Clark! 👊🏼👊🏼
Yesterday we had our #tuesdaytunes do-now featuring Katy Perry’s “Firework!”This weekly task is a great way to hone in on targeted skills…and expose the students to some great music! Any suggestions for next week?! 🎶🐯🎶
Thank you to Ms. Kate from @thunderroadbooks for visiting middle school ELA classes today! Our first round of First Chapter Friday to get the kids ready for upcoming book clubs! #elaallday#realisticfic#memoirs
It was 10 years since I’ve read this classic with a class.I even have my original copy with DAILEY labeled in sharpie.Tomorrow, I’m finishing it with my 7th graders! Some of my favorite memories teaching are a part of this book.Happy to be making more🧡🖤 🌅 #fullcircle#staygold
8th Grade ELA students had their Passion Project Cook Off today! The menu included baked mac & cheese, egg fried rice and cacio e pepe! Congrats to the winner, Luke C! We are hoping to make this an annual tradition! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen 🐯🐾🍲🍝🍽
On the daily, they’re panthers. Today, they were TIGERS! 🐾🐯🐾 They’ve been waiting for quite awhile now for this annual tradition to make its return. And it’s safe to say: Best. Day. Ever. Thank you @NLSLSupervisor@MountzSchool#bringyourchildtoworkday
We had a special presentation in our 6ELA class yesterday! We welcomed Rooney the therapy dog, his handler Mrs. Genis & guest students Nicholas & Isayah. They presented the class with a non-fic focused lesson on the benefits of therapy dogs! @MountzSchool
One of my favorite lessons! 6ELA students transformed symbolism into art! They identified symbols, themes & impacts of setting within our current texts & worked together to have their visions come to life. Well done, Tigers! 🐯🎨📚#alongwalktowater#refugee
Middle school ELA was transformed into “Starbooks Cafe” this week!📚📖☕️🫖Students explored the options for BookClubs w/ a “book tasting” to learn about the selected titles.Everyone is excited to start reading next week! #hwmtigers#weroarforreading@NLSLSupervisor@MountzSchool
Today, @msstabilebhs & I found ourselves having insightful discussions about Salinger’s use of symbolism w/students 🎠 & ended class meeting some of their pets & having a debate: taylor ham or pork roll?! Laughter...what we all needed 🧡#teamtaylorham
Thankful for it all...health, family, happiness. Especially my two little turkeys! If 2020 is good for something, it’s #perspective 🧡💛🤎 Happy Thanksgiving, to all! #gobblegobble
