A brilliant solution is only the beginning, turning it into a sustainable business model is where true innovation comes alive.
As part of our continued efforts to foster Innovation at @Makerere through the #GraduateInnovationProgram, our Programs and Mentorship Officer, @CollinsMugadya, guided students @MESMakerere through the #BusinessModelCanvas and Value Proposition Canvas (VPC), equipping them with powerful tools to transform their innovations into ventures that can thrive in the real world.
Highlights from the session:
✅Business Model Canvas – Breaking down the 9 building blocks: customer segments, value propositions, channels, relationships, revenue streams, key activities, resources, partners, and cost structures.
✅Value Proposition Canvas – Mapping customer pains, gains, and jobs-to-be-done, then aligning solutions that deliver real impact.
✅Customer Discovery – Testing assumptions by engaging with potential users, partners, and competitors.
✅Hands-on Practice – Teams drafted their own canvases, identifying partners, revenue models, and opportunities.
✅The Road Ahead – Refining assumptions, validating ideas, and preparing for prototyping & pitching.

Sharon Bency Acio, founder and CEO of Readysprout Uganda Ltd, which processes and packages nutritious porridge flour and ready-to-eat snacks for healthy living, based in Gulu, anchors her day with a beautiful and quiet ritual: 30 minutes each morning for journaling, prayer, and reflection. ☀️
The quiet time has helped her reset, stay grounded, and approach the day with clarity, which builds her resilience and helps prevent burnout.
This grounding practice is her lifeline when facing the stress and uncertainty of a slow sales season. It helps her stay calm, think clearly, and make thoughtful decisions.
Inspired by the incredible strength of women juggling multiple roles (including her own journey as a mother), @BencyAcio offers this vital advice: "Treat self-care as part of your business strategy, not a luxury... remember: you can’t pour from an empty cup." This is an essential truth for thriving as an entrepreneur!
