☀️ Heat Waves Can Be Deadly
Heat is one of the leading causes of weather-related deaths. Heat waves bring several days of extreme heat that can put many people at risk.
Take heat seriously and check on others during extreme temperatures. @MCAGCC29Palms

Pet Tip: Pavement can be hotter than it looks. Hold your hand on the sidewalk for a few seconds—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws. Walk during cooler times of the day to keep them safe. 🐾🐾 @MCRD_SD

Today is #NationalDamSafetyDay. The U.S. has 90,000+ dams, with 14,000 classified as high‑hazard potential.
Safety tips: • Check maps for nearby dams
• Watch for changing water conditions
• Turn around or portage around dams when boating
• Follow warning signs and barriers
Clear dead leaves, pine needles, and wood piles within 5 feet of your home to reduce wildfire risk. Trim overhanging branches and use nonflammable landscaping like stone or gravel instead of mulch.

Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours. Use broad‑spectrum SPF 30+ to protect against UVA/UVB. Sun damage adds up—even during everyday activities. Add extra protection with long sleeves, a wide‑brim hat, and sunglasses outdoors.

Fog is a significant hazard leading to reduced visibility which negatively affects various modes of transportation. If you are driving through fog turn on your low beams, reduce your speed, and maintain a greater distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
#EarthDay It’s our turn to make a difference! Help protect the environment by joining a community cleanup or consider cutting back on single use plastics. Use reusable containers, and reusable grocery bags whenever possible. @MCIWPendletonCA

Empowering children with the knowledge to contact emergency services is a fundamental aspect of their safety education. By teaching them when and how to call 9-1-1, what to expect, and practicing regularly, you can help ensure they feel confident and prepared.
