Patrick J. Kelly, the namesake for the ECHL Kelly Cup, was a player for the Trois-Rivières Lions from 1957 to 1959 in the Quebec Hockey League, a provincial minor pro league.

68 years later, the ECHL Lions are three wins away from the championship named after their local alumni.

@HabsOnReddit Arpon explained it in Friday's podcast: the AHL champs are almost always won by a team of AHL lifers, not a team of young NHL prospects. They're usually older, bigger, heavier, and just have more experience than a team like the Rocket, and it shows.
