Have you heard of the The Cement Armada

In the 1970s, Nigeria was rich with oil money. General Gowon said, "Let’s build everything from schools to roads and even houses!" But we needed cement, he said. So the government ordered over 16 million tonnes. The ports could only take a small part, but due to lack of planning, they didn't check.

Soon, over 400 ships full of cement came to Lagos and the ports were jammed. Ships waited for months. Cement got spoiled and many turned hard even before offloading.

Every day the ships waited, Nigeria paid demurrage. In the end, billions of dollars were wasted. Some cement was dumped in the sea, some stolen, most never used.

Years later, a port official who had worked at the time told to a journalist, “We built an empire of cement that never stood. You can still find bags of it buried beneath the sea if you know where to look.”

What if I told you that a fake vaccination program conducted by the CIA in 2011, led to the capture of Bin Laden.

In 2011, the CIA set up a phony hepatitis-B vaccination drive in Abbottabad to secretly gather DNA from Osama bin laden's relatives.

A local doctor, Dr. Shakily Afridi was enlisted to vaccinate children in the neighborhood; but instead of only shots, the team collected blood samples to confirm Bin laden's presence.

The ruse lead to Bin laden's death. When it emerged it outraged Pakistanis, undermining trust in real vaccination campaigns sparking international controversy.
