@fantasypolitics@JeffreyBrandes Yeah, I am being conned, by the grifters in the public sector who are stealing from me and those bootlickers who support them.
The City hall of Cape Canaveral a town of 10,000 people. Hardly a big city itโs about 2 sq miles. The photo on the far right was the building the new Taj Mahal replaced in 2016 oh, and the population then was about 10,000 people also. All governments big or small are going to spend every dime they get their hands on. Itโs how government works.
@SGTWipper1Each I meant to say orthopedic surgeon, not internal medicine guy, pretty sure that was the guy working the emergency room at the time. ๐
3 days I think, and that was in a hospital. I was brought into the emergency room on a Friday afternoon. The emergency room doctor decided that I โmightโ need surgery but the internal medicine guy would make that decision, and he would probably be by before he headed out for the day so he wrote no food or drink in the chart.
Long story short, he never showed, he was probably at the country club by then. Spent the entire night in the emergency room, with nothing to eat or drink. Saturday morning they took me up to a room finally. The staff on the floor wouldnโt give me anything because of what was written in the chart. I just asked for a cup of ice. Nope, no one could make a decision. โThe dr should be in soonโ. Right, on a Saturday afternoon? He never showed. Sunday, same thing. No doctor. Monday about noon he shows up, looks at my leg X Ray, (it was a crush injury) and decided he would operate on Tuesday morning. And finally told them to give something to eat and drink. I missed lunch got a cup of ice water. Finally around 6 pm, a tray of really crappy food showed up, I devoured it anyway. Then that was it till I got out of surgery and missed breakfast and lunch again. My wife went to a BBQ joint up the street and brought me some real food.
Hospitals suck, no one seems to be able to make a decision about anything.
Not my hometown but close enough I go there to eat when I can. Burger Robโs Downtown Titusville Florida. Itโs about 25 minutes from my house in Merritt Island.
Yeah I know itโs just a Burger joint. But it is one tasty Burger. Top notch, I sometimes find myself fantasizing about eating one.
As a Line Maintenance Supervisor, I had 30 โmechanicsโ working for me. Although in Industry now calls them โtechniciansโ my certificate issued by the FAA says โMechanicโ Airframe and Powerplant.
And referring to ourselves as Mechanics is a source of pride. Most of us still do that. As for me referring to them as โMy Guysโ that is because they were. Every single one of them. I did not have a single female working for me. If that offends you, then maybe more women need to get some training and get into the Industry so we will have a larger pool to pull from.
Do you have any idea just how difficult it is to find a โpersonโ that has at least 5 years Boeing 757/767 Line Maintenance Experience? Itโs almost impossible these days. Most people start out in this industry working heavy check in a hanger. That is more like a production job, inside shift work. You work that for a couple of years at a 3rd party maintenance facility then, when you have some experience with the jet, you start applying with Airlines. Sometimes if they do their own checks you end up in heavy check there also until you build seniority and can bid a line maintenance job. It takes years. Then in our case we required 5 years line experience on that type. It is a fast paced high pressure environment working outside in every type of weather. And when the jet is broken, you work it until it is fixed. You donโt walk away to eat lunch, clock out and go home after 8 hours, you work it until itโs fixed or you are relieved. It not for everyone. So when you find someone with the qualifications, who has the mentality for that environment, you hire them. You donโt hold out for a woman who may not even apply.
All of them were men, all of them were my friends, they were โmy guysโ.
You sound like the one with a problem. Not me.
You are commenting on something you obviously know nothing about.
You donโt have to go through life with a chip on your shoulder looking for something to be offended about. Life is too short.
Have a nice day.
I have a stepson that knows it all. Problem is, he is almost 40 years old. You could literally hire him, and within two weeks he would be telling you how to run your business.
The 3 of us were doing a 100 hr mx on my boat. Son number #1 was helping me with the engine while his younger brother was changing the gear oil and changing the water pump impeller on the out drive. Big brother was changing the oil filter, and I was changing the fuel filter and water separator on the other side of the engine. Those filters are in a pretty tight area under the exhaust manifolds. I asked him for the strap wrench to get my filter off when he had his off. Once I finished with it, he asked for the strap wrench back. I asked what for? He said to tighten the oil filter. I told him the strap wrench was for loosening the filter, you put the new one on โhand tightโ. Between the engine getting hot and cooling down, by next year that filter will be plenty tight and I have never seen one fall off. If you tighten now, by next year I will have to drive a screwdriver through it and make a mess to get it off.
He told me he changed oil at the Ford dealer, thatโs what he was taught and he knew what he was doing.
And he took the wrench and smoked it down anyway.
I couldnโt believe it.
I fired him, told him it was my boat, my money and I am doing it the way I was taught before he was even born. He didnโt want to โhelpโ anymore after that. ๐๐๐๐๐
