I was fired from @SandiaLabs because I wouldn’t attest to my vaccine status and agree to any future medical decisions that they would post on their website. No apology from the DoE @ENERGY or the lab. When will justice be done?

This tragedy should never happen again. People should be held accountable for what I believe were violations of our rights and bodily autonomy. There’s no justification.

But the problem runs deeper than medical mandates. Under at-will employment, employers can make nearly any document or policy a condition of keeping your job—even ones against conscience or that require statements you believe are false. Refuse, and they can fire you and label it “misconduct.” In practice that often means losing unemployment benefits as well, with the law largely on the employer’s side and almost no real recourse.

History is full of dark chapters where governments and institutions overrode individual bodily autonomy and conscience in the name of science, public health, or the greater good—from unethical medical experiments and forced procedures on the disabled and vulnerable in our own country to the worst abuses of state power in the 20th century. Fifty years from now, people will look back on the coercion of medical decisions under threat of job loss the same way. There is no justification. Laws must change so this coercive power cannot continue. This must never happen again.

Two weeks before the 25th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in American history, CBC has instructed its journalists not to refer to 9/11 as a terrorist attack.

Nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered that day, including 24 Canadians, in an act of monstrous evil.

Canadians stood shoulder to shoulder with our American friends, neighbours, and allies in the aftermath. Nearly 7,000 stranded passengers found safe harbour in Gander. More than 40,000 Canadians would go on to serve in Afghanistan alongside our allies in the fight against terrorism.

To call 9/11 anything other than a terrorist attack is an appalling distortion of history. It dishonours the victims and their families, the survivors, and the first responders who suffered from the horrors of that day.

CBC must immediately apologize and retract this directive.

As of 4:30 pm today the U.S. Geological Survey has officially designated the former Lake Ontario to be renamed as Lake America in all official USGS electronic documents.

The change will begin occurring in printed documents over the next several days.  

This change has also been made official in the Geographic Names Information System.

A 25 year old Goldman Sachs employee was using ChatGPT to vent about his girlfriend and shared some violent fantasies. ChatGPT flagged the conversation and it was forwarded to the FBI. They used the conversation to get a search warrant and charge him with aggravated stalking, written threats to kill, and unlawful use of a cellphone. He plead guilty and got 8 years probation for the chat.
