The US has tested a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile

The press service said in a statement that the test “underscores the country's powerful capabilities.” Vandenberg Space Force Base officials said it was a routine launch designed to show that the U.S. can effectively deter “21st century threats.”

“Similar tests have been conducted more than 300 times, and this test was not the result of current world events,” the spokesman's office said. According to the US Air Force, the test was planned years ago.
