Op-ed pages in newspapers are supposed to feature critical articles. What we see these days often are puff pieces by politicians, unreadable mumbo jumbo by wannabe academics and ghostwritten fluff from corporate brand builders. More critical stuff is happening now in YouTube videos, podcasts and Instagram Reels. Democracy doesn't wait. It just moves homes.

Newspapers & social media won’t make you an International Relations (IR) specialist.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
It starts with conceptual clarity.
So if you are undergrad, read philosophy.
If you are a postgrad, read the classical texts in political science & IR.
Then get to IR theories.
Finally, history.
Concepts, classics, theories & history…that’s when the world starts making sense.
PS: And DON’T forget your own country’s classics, history and concepts!
