Can we staple a US green card to every degree earned at an American university? Instead of sending the best and brightest top talented graduates away after they’ve been admitted to our top schools and graduated with a world-class education, let’s keep them in the USA to fuel our economy and strengthen our society. ❤️🇺🇸
I’m an American who is gainfully employed because an Indian immigrant on a visa founded a company in the US. Thx @AravSrinivas for creating 100+ American jobs.
I came to the US in 2014 on a H1-B, with several years of prior experience as a C/C++ programmer. A “skilled white European immigrant” as some seem to call it recently here. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work alongside absolutely exceptional so-called “skilled Indian immigrants”. Together, I tend to believe we've generated value for American consumers and created more jobs, many of which now filled by American people. We have in common that we came to this beautiful country to work hard, contribute to society and assimilate. In short, do our best to be a net positive for the nation.
I’ve been recruiting for Tesla for a long time across different teams, and can attest that I’ve never ever seen anyone prioritize “Indians” (or “Europeans”, “Asians”, etc.) over “Americans”. In fact, from a practical standpoint, it is much easier to hire American citizens since the company then doesn’t need to go through the hurdles of Visa transfers / sponsoring. But ultimately, what matters to us is to make America number One in our field.
We have positions wide open in AI & Robotics for the best talent as we speak. “Best” as in: a combination of personality, technical skills, and raw brain power. It is very hard to find people who score highly across these simultaneously. Either folks are very good, but not willing to work hard with us; or they’re hardworking, but don’t pass the bar technically. The last thing we want is some kind of DEI derivative.
I’m sure there could have been some amount of abuse through the industry, as in all domains, and it should be fixed. But too much energy is being spent on the wrong target here.
Let’s make America safe (cleanup illegal & criminal immigration) and great (build the best team across the board to win) again.
Had no idea how many anon crazies on this site hated Indians, what a weird thing.
Especially since Indian immigrants are pretty values aligned with traditional American values around family, hard work, pride
I don't think I've ever seen a Twitter dispute that was so one-sided. All the people who understand tech, on both right and left, are on one side, and the other side is just anonymous accounts and political commentators.
@ThatChrisRyan maybe time for another book? 👀
"Subscribed to Death" 😤
We'll be happy co-authors 😅
On a serious note-
Stay tuned!
We'll let you know when such publishers mend their way & work with us on this as well :)
Seeds of the 'Tap In mafia' sprouting? 😍😍
We couldn't be any happier! 👏👏
Although sad to see him being taken by Zomato🥺... but happy we could be of any little help in his journey.
Onwards and upwards! 💙💙
This made my day!
A non-IIT/NIT/BITS undergrad, who was @realTapIn's first iOS intern, got a long term final year Internship with Zomato🎉
Knowing how hard it is, to crack such an internship off campus(without branding)... it's heartening to know we had a small part in it! 💙
Some horrific visuals coming in from the Beirut explosion...
It looks as if it's right out of a movie!
The cause of explosion is still unknown.
Some people say they saw jets and suspect it to be a terror attack.
