I agree, the bigger picture is economic reality kicking in. Until 2030 China will build out additional 2,8TW of solar and wind, others not included. The USD is losing it's reserve currency status by the minute. This means the valuations of US stocks will crash, commodities will melt up because they are produced in the East and in the worst case the whole Western credit system will bust in the process because the US markets are probaly 70-90% overvalued if you use energy metrics (which are the source truth). Chinese will experience at least a doubling of purchase power. Probably a lot more. Short USDCNY. The enormous gold reserves of China in combination with an exploding goldprice are an additional angle of the unfolding rotation.

The Chinese are allowing CNY to appreciate against USD as it makes buying crude oil cheaper in RMB, while sales of distillates in USD earn more.

China is using RMB-USD to buffer the oil shocks from the Persian Gulf and Ukraine-Russia wars.
