@pickover Music performance (no degree), journalism, accounting, biotechnology. But I should have been an engineer. Curses to the 9th grade math teacher who told our advanced class that they should only stay on the most accelerated track if they wanted to be math majors.
@pickover I loved his books (including this one) as a teenager and read them over and over, but as an adult I feel like they may have caused me as much harm as good. I like @KrisLindbeck ‘s term pseudo-feminism...or maybe sham feminism is even closer to how I’d describe it.
@nervous_jessica Onesies. You can never have too many onesies. I didn’t understand why I needed them until suddenly it was obvious. Also probably more cloth diapers.
@MattDzugan @cs_kaplan 2) I’ve just done this work in Photoshop so far, dithering images by very selectively reducing the number of colors and pixels and THEN converting to a simulated image of knitting, but am very interested in figuring out how to do it with programming instead.
@MattDzugan @cs_kaplan 1) This is fascinating! I’m a new creative coder learning P5.js but a longtime fiber/digital artist working with knitted stitches (and images of them) as “non-square pixels.”
@Bleeptrack Ooh but don’t get it wet or it will (or at least mine did) deform permanently! I ironed on top of one with steam and now it’s a rippled mess.
@tylerxhobbs How about the intersection of tech-based art with fine craft (handmade physical objects requiring artisanal skill)? I ask as a fiber artist who is in the process of becoming a digital artist.
