@BrianEverham@By_Odins_Beard_@aseparatemind Okay, fair enough. 8 years looks even worse then. I’m not saying Holland is/was a bad GM, but he drafted horribly those last years, and depleted assets. It isn’t a real secret. I think it’s also fair to say he got saved by a couple of very late picks though.
@BrianEverham@By_Odins_Beard_@aseparatemind That’s one good players, and 3 other supporting players in a 20 year span? I think it’s fair to say Holland didn’t do well drafting while with the wings.
@NHLFoley Even if you slot him in at 3, that’s not a great top 10 for a guy/team over a 20 year span. I assume you’re weighting earlier draft picks. Didn’t he draft guys like zetterberg?
@JFreshHockey Has anyone looked to see what sort of talent was “left on the table” from their picks? I think it’s fair to say round 1 has been fine. I remember seeing other rebuilding teams have better round 2+ luck than the wings, but were those players even available to them to draft?
@TheWarningTake@AvsCanesFan Not that they’re perfect but they do isolate things. He’s defensive ranking is percentile based not a pure rating. It’s also for just last year
@JFreshHockey Looks like an average game from him, in what was an average/bad game for the team. He is what he is. 15-20th best center who will probably do better with more skill/structure around him.
@HockRod@RedWingDiehards I think it depends on how they do, and I never said it wasn’t worth it. I was just explaining that it isn’t so cut and dry. They have a time cost in every asset they have. Minny has taken a totally different approach so it just wasn’t as big of a gamble.
@HockRod@RedWingDiehards It’s not guaranteed is the point. What if he just decides he’s going to go play with his brothers?
Minny isn’t getting back half of their assets if that happens. Everyone will know he’s only going to 2-3 teams at most. It’s the Debrincat situation. Return will be small.
@CaptRyanElls@Goatthingssss@HotTakeHockey He looked bad compared to what he was getting paid last year. This trade wasn’t really saying that Harley is equal to ASP. He’s getting paid a lot of money and they’d be saying we’re keeping Robo and getting back a probably valuable asset in ASP instead of losing him completely
@HotTakeHockey I think the biggest thing here for the Wings is taking on all of the money. They need to extend Debrincat, sign Simon, etc.. not saying they wouldn’t go for it. I think it favors Detroit, but Dallas gets the cap flexibility they need.
