I said this last year, but what most disturbs me about effective altruists and AI doomers in particular is how their rhetoric creates a permission structure for violence and terrorism. They frame everything in terms of killing. They say their opponents are killing people. They say my inaction is murder. They are indirectly calling for the people they disagree with to be killed.
