If Nigeria wants to learn, understand, and imbibe religious tolerance, then perhaps all leaders should undergo some orientation in the Southwest before being sworn in.

Right now, all Governors in the Southwest are Christian, including the Governor of Osun, which is the most Islamic state in Southern Nigeria. And most of these six Governors became Governors on the back of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a Muslim.

Yet, have you heard of any agitation about religious domination by Muslims against Christians in the Southwest? Have there been even one killing because of this political order?

Before these sets of Governors, the class of Governors in the Southwest was mainly Muslim, including Raji Fashola in Lagos, Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, and Rauf Aregbesola of Osun.

And when that happened, there were no cries of marginalisation by Southwest Christians.

What is important to the Lukumi Yorubas is ability, not spirituality.

And if the rest of Nigeria can learn from this, we would all be as politically and economically progressive as the people of the Southwest.
