We are walking by sprinkling salt and pepper and not realizing we're just turning the heat up while they boil over.

It remains unclear if big oil will go ALL IN VZ.
They know the region.
It will take a decade to rebuild the infrastructure and get oil pumping…. North of $100bn in investment and @potus will he out of office in 3yrs
Venezuela’s oil industry is currently a mess
Even beyond what is on the horizon, VZ has a long history of political instability
In the same way most U.S. businesses and investors don’t invest in Russia…. It’s very risky to put your money anywhere that you cannot trust the rule of law
- these same big companies have lived through VZ govt seizing their assets and it hurt
- Accessing oil in VZ is not easy & while Trump is saying he talked to big oil execs before and after the strike…. It’s unclear if/who asked for this. We aren’t hearing from the companies
We are hearing from markets- and markets love hope, possibility and optimism. Markets are liquid. Those same optimists can sell tomorrow, take profits and go home
For big oil to make a bet that is a whole lot bigger than a hedge fund going long on a Tuesday
