@AdeTechRec@JustinBleuel@ChatGPTapp Economics may affect priorities, but this a choice. Not retaining both forces users into a downgrade-or-leave decision. Blocks are inferior for long-form writing, removing canvas forces users to accept a weaker workflow or look elsewhere for one that still supports how they work.
@AdeTechRec@JustinBleuel@ChatGPTapp Because it has been downgraded to a notes system.
Serious long-form desktop writing hasn’t just been deprioritised. It has been degraded and sidelined.
Canvas’s integrated, document-centered workspace and revision workflow have been replaced by a fragmented chat-first model.
@JustinBleuel@CyberSecurityQA@ChatGPTapp This will be needed for switching between documents and finding the workspace in chat after every discussion, which canvas handled without clunkiness.
A great feature that you could add to canvas superior workspace and revision tools and keep both to suite different workflows
@JustinBleuel@dargor1406@ChatGPTapp A feature that could easily be built into canvas without losing all the superior features that you don't seem to be implementing in the new system :( Why cant we keep both?
@JustinBleuel@mweinbach Blocks are useful, but they are not a replacement for Canvas.
Blocks work well for quick draft snippets. Canvas is what makes serious multi-turn editing, stable longform revision, and “discuss then apply” workflows possible.
Canvas should be retained and improved, not replaced.
@JustinBleuel@mweinbach With blocks, chat and editing are separated. You can discuss in chat or edit in the block, but not integrate the two around the same document. That’s a real regression from canvas.
@JustinBleuel@mweinbach The current diff only exists before applying changes. Once accepted, there is no persistent show-changes view against the prior state. The only option is to toggle between undo and redo and manually work out the difference. This is a major downgrade in function from Show changes
@JustinBleuel@mweinbach Undo is not previous version parity. Canvas let me move through previous states with Show changes on and see what changed across iterations. Blocks don’t preserve that workflow. That’s a real downgrade among many others
@scumbunker You didn’t really defend your logic you just sidestepped it. So let me ask directly. Are there actions that are objectively negative no matter who resonates with them?
@TheFlatEartherr Social media is the new mainstream nothing has changed. Now they target the message directly to your echo chamber for increased efficacy.
