@candy__warhoI Do they have multiple kids under ~3? That's the season of life when it is understandable and difficult to make it happen regularly even when desired by both. If no kids that age then yikes.
I once spoke with an absolutely vile person who explained why he exclusively hit on married/taken women
He'd made a pass at me, I said I was taken, he said he knew, and I called him out and said "If you knew, why would you do that?"
"If I hit on single women, my competition is every guy in the world. If I hit on taken ones it's one guy."
Although this is one of the most toxic things I've ever heard, I do think it's worth internalizing, because you can make your partner compete against the entire world even if no one ever hits on you
That's what you're doing if you're constantly comparing them in your head to others, that's what porn does, that's what getting deep in the weeds with romance books does, and it's what the Call Her Daddy-style "You can do better" mindset teaches
And you know what? Maybe you actually CAN do better. Maybe both of you could!
You could both spend your entire lives treating people like baseball cards, trading them in over and over to optimize for some superior stat
But if you've committed to someone, specifically if you've vowed to "forsake all others," they are not your monkey branch to use to upgrade
A reminder that every uneventful day is a blessing from God on a scale you are incapable of ever fully grasping.
Much of what you take for granted is nothing short of paradise for those less fortunate.
Modern men are emasculated. Times are hard because men are weak and low T. Follow me for aesthetic mood boards of steak and honey to help you understand how to be masculine better. Still donβt get it? Here is a picture of me drinking cappuccino in my chinos and boat shoes.
When I first started doing couples therapy, I approached it as I would organizational development, talking about redundancies, efficiencies, and removing bottlenecks. For many couples, it felt like a fresh approach and worked well.
But randomly and without warning, I would have some women react with complete emotional breakdown.
I'm not exaggerating when I say they would shrivel their bodies up like a wounded animal and start screaming an inhuman noise. And this wasn't just an isolated incident, but multiple women.
And this was usually related to an impossible discussion with their husbands about not being so precious about the kids. They either wanted brand new off the line vehicles, brand new name brand clothes, or technologies and equipment that no human has ever needed to raise healthy, happy kids. They insisted that it was for the children's well-being and safety.
But it wasn't.
Or, often it was the husband not accepting the premise that she was being so neurotic about the kids cleanliness, dirt on their hands, or whatever because it's what he demanded. You frankly didn't care and didn't think it was a bad thing for kids to go to bed sweaty and stinky, exhausted.
And rather than being happy and motherhood, they were miserable because of the extra requirements they alone placed on motherhood, while claiming it was what others were forcing upon them.
Yes, sometimes some husbands were pretty dense as to what went into child raising. But often, the wife was simply without reason with what she had convinced herself was necessary.
And it being challenged resulted in blind freak outs. Animals shrieks. What was actually necessary versus what would be nice to have couldn't even be discussed with these women.
I keep that in mind as I watch many women completely on X reject any reasonable stance that perhaps they are the ones making things harder than they need to be, deflecting that everybody just hates them. For that there's a version of reality that they should be able to slaughter their children to scratch a hedonistic itch.
You can't help someone whose highest virtue is to be seen as a victim.
