Zainab Ibrahim Umar, a philanthropist, has been arrested by @PoliceNG charged to court in Jigawa State. She was first arraigned at a Magistrate Court, which later transferred the case to the High Court in Birnin Kudu, where she has been remanded in prison.

The case is reportedly linked to Ahmad Ibrahim Ahmad Namadina, Special Adviser on Culture to Governor Umar Namadi @uanamadi . According to available information, Zainab had declined a promotional PR engagement from the state government.

She was initially taken to the DSS, where both parties allegedly reached a settlement and were advised to exercise restraint. However, it is claimed that the SA later went to her shop with associates, where an altercation occurred. Zainab reportedly defended herself and is now facing a charge of attempted homicide.

Notably, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Justice @jigawamoj is standing as counsel to Namadina in this matter.

We call on the Jigawa State Government, the Commissioner for Justice, the Nigeria Police, and all relevant authorities to immediately review this case and ensure Zainab’s release. This raises serious concerns about abuse of power, intimidation of critics, and selective application of justice.

Justice must be fair, impartial, and not weaponized against dissenting voices.
