What is a symptom of Poverty?
➡️ Health
One third of all deaths – 18 million per year or 50,000 per day – are due to poverty-related causes.
• 90% of all maternal deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. Only 1% occur in all the developed world.
• 212 million new cases of malaria per year, with half a million deaths, 90% in Africa.
• Mental health, problem solving, and cognitive function are all adversely affected by poverty.
Canadian Humanitarian believes it is essential to recognize all factors that cause poverty. With a strong understanding of these factors, we will be able to efficiently expend our resources to tackle this issue.
We are calling on all individuals to give back to our global communities in this dire time, as our efforts will help heal the impact of COVID-19 on our communities.

This is a marked improvement from the 52.2% of the world’s population that lived in Absolute poverty in 1981.
💡Canadian Humanitarian will continue to concentrate our efforts in places of the world that require the most attention, as over one third of the population of…
What is Absolute and Relative poverty, and why does it matter?
Relative poverty is used to mainly measure poverty rates in wealthy, developed countries. It has more to do with the inequality of opportunities as opposed to survival.
We at the Canadian Humanitarian believe that Absolute Poverty needs to be addressed in combination with Relative Poverty in order to eliminate poverty as a whole.
When looking at Absolute Poverty, it is known as extreme poverty or destitution. In economic terms, the poverty line was set to $1.90 USD per day in 2015.
Some consider poverty to be a violation of basic human rights.
How have your experiences come to shape how you define the poverty? The comments are open for discussion!
