To the maybe 10 people who will see this; here’s a little clarity about sugar:
1. Sugar (glucose) is the body’s primary fuel source. If you don’t eat it, you will make it: “gluconeogenesis”.
All types of carbohydrate eventually turn to glucose for fuel. If you eat too much it will be stored as “glycogen”; if those stores are filled up, as fat. Very fit people have bigger “gas tanks” to store carbohydrate as glycogen rather than converting it to fat. Big bonus to being very fit/active.
2. Insulin is not the devil. Its job is to transport glucose from your bloodstream to your cells. If you are “insulin resistant” (40-50% of the population - central obesity” ) you need MORE insulin to do the same job, and it doesn’t work as well.
3. To minimize “glucose spikes after eating” Lose weight, exercise (I know, 🥱) which makes your body more sensitive to insulin.
4. Limit carbohydrates to 50% of calorie intake. I realize this is vague however everyone is very different depending on your age, weight, activity level, muscle mass, etc. Apps like “My Fitness Pal” is a good tool to use.
5. Avoid, like it’s poison, LIQUID SUGAR: sugared soda (yes diet is better), all juices, coffee/fruit smoothies, sports drinks (unless you’re actually in sports and need them for performance)
6. Balanced meals with some starch/whole grain; lean protein, healthy fat and fiber will slow the emptying of the stomach and glucose won’t be dumped into the bloodstream there by “spiking” glucose and insulin. An example would be to compare a turkey/avocado sandwich with an apple to breadsticks and pasta (also super high in calories)
7. The “Glycemic Index” is a list of foods and their effects on blood sugar. It goes out the window when a food is combined in a mixed meal, and has little if any influence on how nutritionally dense or “healthy” a food is. But hey, out of curiosity you can Grok it. You will see some high sugar foods have less of an impact than some non-sweet foods on blood sugar.
8. Finally, as for the impact on cancer, it is normal for blood glucose to go up a little after eating. I can see how, if you have insulin resistance, it can “Feed cancer” more, however if you have cancer you need to EAT. I have had patients starve to death because they could not consume enough calories and/or had family members tell them to avoid sugar in an attempt to cure the cancer.
When we eat or drink sugar, it causes a sudden spike in the hormone insulin, which can serve as a catalyst to fuel certain types of cancers, Dr. Lewis Cantley, a Harvard professor and the then-head of the Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center, said in 2012.
His advice: don't eat sugar, and if you must, keep it to a minimum. https://t.co/yN025wWBMM
@ChefGruel@RoxanneHoge Same with Raman - no one even knows who’s on LA city council or how crazy they are. The only reason I do is becasue I listen to @Johnnydontlike (I’m in OC). They are total communist morons.
@joelpollak@mattpaulus Just goign to put a positive spin on it: Pratt loses and will still put out countless videos completely destroying LA polititians. LA is so freaking clueless and apathetic.
@houmanhemmati@KalliopeLB@E_Barcohana It’s not the vote counting that’s fraud. The rules make it legal to rig. You can ballot harvest and get votes in after Election Day. It’s totally hopeless unless there is a huge majority uprising.
I take care of myself, diet, exercise (its my career actually as an RD), ideal BW, etc. Menopause almost killed me literally w the insomnia, anxiety, waking up in pool of sweat, messing w my thyroid doses - then I got on HRT and i feel better than I have in years. Also on a low dose of Lexapro - stopped my panic (hormones helped too)
@Elex_Michaelson@jenvanlaar The leaders are all dems who can pass any bill they want (including laws to mandate NOT investigating fraud). It’s easier to ballot harvest. A whistleblower on @IngrahamAngle said that there srr handwritten dates on some ballots and that the post office separates ballots.
