Did you know that 23% of the population of Mexico lives here in the US?
Did you also know that these people send "home" 64 billion dollars in remittances?
I don't know about anyone else, but I find this to be a very serious problem
🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."
My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."
I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.

Women are way too comfortable living in the pretend world men built for them. There’s no way out of this except for the pretending to end
It’s the same as with nons. When you elevate a group beyond what they could ever achieve themselves, their thanks will be bitterness, resentment and hate. You’re left with a black hole which never can be filled and a grievance factory which never goes idle
The question is not if, but when—but whether it is to be a soft landing or a hard one is yet to be written. It is the moral duty of everyone who recognizes the situation for what it is to work toward a soft landing. A hard one would entail misery the likes of which few of us have ever seen
You feel like you’re living in a foreign nation because you are
A nation is not lines on a map, a set of institutions, or a collection of propositions
A nation is its people
@romanhelmetguy Basic law of societies
the people that fight to protect societies are the ones that get to make the rules
once you abandon this law of nature everything falls apart
Conservatism is just leftism on a lag. Your most “extreme” conservatives are fighting to preserve the traditional social structure of…1995. They’d recoil in horror if you put them in 1955. Conservatism has been losing for 500 years, it’s not about to start winning now.
When pondering why a country that is $40 Trillion in debt, would keep giving away $100 Billion a year to other countries - I always reach the same conclusion:
Foreign Aid money is the easiest money to steal.
@SternDrewCrypto This war front backs right up against the Russia Ukraine war
We all know thats a proxy war for NATO
The odds of this not turning into one large conflict feel extremely low
The entire worlds energy market is already devastated
Choosing sides is all thats left or so it seems
Beyond terrible. The Government is forcing the Amish Community…the healthiest unvaccinated control group left on Earth…to take ‘vaccines’ because nothing threatens the narrative like living proof that you don’t need them…
