On the first day of fall I like to re-read my friend @mattthomas’s post, “Fall In,” on seasonal thinking and resisting the tyranny of the day:

@OldTechAdverts Street Hawk, Knight Rider, Airwolf, the A-Team. People were hungry for vigilante street justice apparently, and six year old me ate that shit up
One night in 1989 I was watching my favorite show (America's Funniest Home Videos) and my Dad explained to me that before Bob Saget was on TV, he had an unsuccessful musical career. In an effort to escape his past, he had changed his name from "Bob Seger" to "Bob Saget"

8 years later, I'm 15 and flipping through a box of records at my friend's house when I come across a Bob Seger album. Wouldn't ya know it, I had a super fun trivia fact about Bob Seger! So I proudly shared it with the room.

@samselikoff I'm in this boat too, and as someone who lived through MobileMe and iDisk it feels good to have enough faith in Apple's web services to actually consider this now!
Also, pro tip: your local library may provide free, perpetually renewable 3 day passes to NY Times subscriber content, and library cards are free. For Austin the pass is here: https://t.co/pHppvJnPXG
@TravisStalcup @stalcup_rachel It's the absolute worst and I don't know how it continues to be overlooked, so happy I know people who feel the same way about it
In reading about what went wrong on the Rust set, the question about "Why are there real guns on sets in the first place?" keeps coming up with the answer being "For realism. They look real when fired, allowing actors to react properly to the noise and recoil" 🧵 (1/4)
So I think we have bigger issues than a gunshot not looking hyper-realistic on screen. So bring out the fake guns, save the lives of crew, and maybe throw some water in those empty cups. (4/4)

1. Drinking out of empty cups (!!!)
2. Ending phone calls without saying goodbye
3. Quiet conversations in loud places
4. “Two beers please” as an order
5. Huge NYC apts on a creative salary
6. Driving without looking at the road
7. Using people’s names c o n s t a n t l y

I didn’t check my pockets on laundry day and turned my last year’s worth of Field Notes into a mushy potato-like object. Therapy notes, things my dad said before he died, ideas, contact info, mostly all gone. But this survived, and yeah—it is.
