After fully listening to the new album by @taylorswift13, I can say that lyrically it does not deserve the honor of being put in an alternative genre. Genre is more than the sound. It’s a combination of sound and lyric. Unfortunately, Taylor only reached one of these requirements

@AllisonLeeRamey Comparatively, if you listen to The Lumineers latest album, III, that is the type of storytelling you would expect to see in alternative/folk style music.

@AllisonLeeRamey Yes! The 3 songs are linked. Which is great! I love it when people do that on albums. But in my opinion, as a whole, the story line isn’t clear and doesn’t create the image that I believe she was going for.

@AllisonLeeRamey Take track 14, betty, for instance (one of the two songs I got my hopes up for). Taylor writes about a problem between 2 people from one of them’s perspective, but that’s all we know. There is no detail, no resolution, just surface level story telling.
