My daughter Fatma Zahra graduated this week from one of Switzerland's top schools - the Geneva Graduate Institute - with a Masters in International Development Studies, specialising in conflict, peace and security.
Well-done.
Alhamdullilah.
Wishing her all the best for the future.

This is sharp SMK.
The three narrow doors (Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb, and Suez) are tightening at the same time and Oil surging past $107 isnβt just a price spike but itβs that the market pricing in how fragile those routes have become.
Thatβs exactly why the East African coast suddenly matters more. When the Gulfβs main exits get risky, the Indian Ocean side of Kenya, Tanzania and the rest of the EAC becomes a real alternative corridor to Asia. Not a side option but something like a lifeline.
But geography alone wonβt deliver the benefits. If we stay fragmented, the ports just undercut each other and the value leaks out. His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni push for deeper EAC integration is the difference between the region capturing the upside which comes with jobs, transit revenue, industrial growth or watching it pass us by.
Unity shouldnβt be a slogan right now but itβs the only way us the citizens actually win.
πΊπ¬π·πΊOn 12 September, Amb. Olara Otunnu, Ugandaβs candidate for UN Secretary-General, arrived in Moscow accompanied by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Special Presidential Envoy of the Republic of Uganda.
Pictures tell us stories, and this picture tells a great story of the journey from Mucwini to the world.
Mucwini may not be a name many recognise, but it is a village in Kitgum District in Northern Uganda, and the birthplace of both Amb. Olara Otunnu and Archbishop Janani Luwum. To see two sons of Mucwini rise to global prominence, and now to see one standing before the statue of the other at Westminster Abbey, is a moment to behold.
There is another remarkable thread to this story, one that runs through Amb. Olaraβs parents, Evangelist Yusto Otunnu and Josephine Amato Otunnu, who as preachers pioneered the East African Revival in Northern Uganda. In January 1948, during one of their missions, they led the young 24-year-old teacher Janani Luwum to accept Jesus Christ as his Saviour. This was two years before Olara was born. With the support of the Otunnu family and the wider revival movement, Luwum grew in his new faith and went on to become Archbishop of Uganda. He was a fierce and courageous crusader against injustice, for which he was ultimately murdered by Idi Amin.
As a martyr honoured for the fight against oppression, Luwum's statue stands tall at Westminster Abbey, at the epicentre of power in the heart of the country whose empire once colonised Uganda.
As we reflect on these threads from Mucwini to the world, may we find inspiration as we live out our own lives. May this story resonate especially with those who see greatness, or the world stage, as too distant a possibility. May their thoughts change from the question "How is it possible?" to the assurance βIf two village boys could emerge from Mucwini, then surely it is possible.β
We wish the best to @Olara_Otunnu β this son of Mucwini, this son of Uganda, this son of Yusto and Josephine Otunnu β as he traverses the nations with @RuhakanaR mobilising support to become the next Secretary-General of the United Nations.

$28,500 A NIGHTβ¦ FOR A HOTEL ROOM IN RWANDAπ·πΌ
Would YOU pay nearly $30,000 for just ONE night at One&Only Gorillaβs Nest, Rwanda reportedly one of Africaβs most expensive luxury stays?
Canadian entrepreneur Ryan Dubs visited the resort in August 2026 and shared his perspective on the experience.
But hereβs the real debate:
Is $28,500 a night an outrageous price tag or is this what ultra-luxury in Africa is worth?
Luxury tourism. African wealth. Foreign visitors. Local communities.
Where do you draw the line?
Delighted to meet Vice President Jessica Alupo of Uganda on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Recalled my memorable visit to Uganda in 2018 and the Kampala Principles that continue to guide Indiaβs engagement with Africa.
We discussed ways to deepen cooperation in healthcare, agriculture, digital technologies and capacity building.
India and Uganda will keep working closely to advance bilateral ties and ensure a stronger voice for the Global South.

On behalf of the family of the Late Patrick Kankiriho, we humbly request you for your spiritual, emotional and financial support in this journey .May God bless you all.
Leadership is all about service, as @Francis_Gatare , ASG President usually reminds us, a value that ASG seeks toΒ instill in our students.
We recently witnessed the official Student Representative Council (SRC) handover reflecting this spirit, as a new team took on the responsibility of serving their peers and contributing to the wider ASG community.
Great job to the outgoing team for strengtheningΒ student life and leadership, and we wish the incoming SRC every success in their new chapter of service.
What does it really mean to be a leader?
That was the question at the heart of a conversation between our incoming MPA cohort and ASG President @Francis_Gatare during orientation.
Through a conversation on leadership and responsibility, the cohort reflected on the kind of leadership Africa needs, the role each of them can play in bringing it about, and how ASG will equip them with the knowledge and tools to take on that responsibility.
Hereβs to a warm welcome to ASG and to the leadership journey ahead.
