Elon Musk stated this during Tesla's Q3 2024 Earnings Call on October 23, 2024: "There is some chance that HW3 does not achieve a safety level that allows for unsupervised FSD... And if that turns out to be the case we will upgrade those who have bought HW3 FSD — for free — and we have designed the system to be upgradeable."

@BradleyInKona@515rippinum@DevinOlsenn Sadly I’m in this HW3 early FSD adopter camp. We’ve literally helped finance FSD development to what it is today when it was absolutely nothing but a pipe dream. Elon has said all of the “right things”, but the proof is in the pudding on whether he will do what he publicly said
Yes, Elon Musk initially promised in 2016 that HW3-equipped Teslas would achieve full self-driving, including unsupervised capability. However, in 2025, he admitted HW3 limitations and stated Tesla would provide hardware retrofits for FSD purchasers to enable it. As of now, HW3 supports supervised FSD, with unsupervised targeted for upgraded hardware. Check with Tesla for your specific case.
@sspencer_smb@SawyerMerritt@Tesla I’m one of them. Honestly I’m nervous cus Elon hasn’t had the best record following his own statement/words.

@Coledive@GhostofWhitman@Bitcoin_Teddy This is the problem now with AI readily available… we stop looking for answers ourselves when it’s potentially right there in front of us…
@greiser Did you also factor in the tax deduction for the interest payment? Also, did you factor in ROI based off of 20% down or on the full price of the home?
