@noam_dworman I like your argument about T cells
Also, by his definition of alive, he'd probably call a steak you buy at the supermarket alive. Sure, the cow is dead, but many of the cells in the meat aren't yet.
Also, plants definitely suffer the way animals, do, they have similar chemicals
@noam_dworman When the loss function is applied, it's more like creating a brand new LLM that is slightly different from the old one, not giving negative feedback. It's not actively running inference while you do that.
@noam_dworman This is a fun one. I'm only part-way through, but the idea that training could be some kind of negative emotion or pain seems to misunderstand how these things work.
@noam_dworman I don't begrudge you for running ads in your podcast (you do FAR fewer than most, which I greatly appreciate!!). But do they have to be for things like THC products and gambling websites?
Maybe I'm being a prude, but I know people who are worse off because of them.
@noam_dworman Google Maps uses min and mi. That seems pretty unambiguous to me, especially because they are displayed literally right next to each other. What kind of GPS are you using where this is confusing?
If you're willing to do mil, you might as well just go all the way and write mile
@bubbaraskin@noam_dworman That's a good point I hadn't really considered.
They've sunk plenty of civilian ships, so they're willing to do it, but the extras threats carry more weight than they would in the pipeline scenario.
@noam_dworman@GianmarcoSoresi Are you trying to defend Shapiro's dumb statement because Biden said something stupid too?
Both are terribly dumb things to say!
@noam_dworman Very interesting stuff.
I'm curious though, did it know it was you making the request? Would it have different answers if your prompt implied you were someone else? Or if your prompt implied you didn't like the podcast?
I find a lot of these AIs are so eager to please.
@noam_dworman Would it really be narcissism though? If you assume that God exists and performs small miracles, why wouldn't he do that to powerful and influential people?
I don't believe in any of this either, but it's not that wacky to a typical religious person in America.
@noam_dworman@GoldTeeth_II@EliLake A lot of people, not just Pape, predicted a huge spike in oil prices and a worldwide economic collapse.
It's looking like the only reason that didn't happen is because of China.
The world is so inter-connected this is all very hard to predict.

@noam_dworman I think his argument is that attitudes would be different if the people grew up in a successful, wealthy society.
If you really want to be fair to him, you should redo this, but only consider Arab Israeli citizens. You may get the same answer, but it'd be more fair to his point.
@noam_dworman@robertwrighter@noam_dworman the audio quality seems a little better on this one, but I'd still recommend getting a nicer microphone, especially if you'll be doing the whole summer from home.
