Tom Colen

Writer of Stuff / Maker of Things
Bad at being brief about near anything and not here to fight with anyone so twitter is perfect medium for me.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@samreich A question many have been hoping you would ask for some time

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@erikaishii Because at this point you are more real than a lot of the stuff that plays on actual TV.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@mattcolville I know it is for the consortium that organizes/runs the USB standards/protocol but why advertise when you have already more or less won the game. What is USB really in compaction with at this point?

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@mattcolville got to love KCRW

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

Y'all know we will just keep calling it twitter right?

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@ja2ke If you all came back, we would listen.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@austin_walker @rangedtouch obligatory "LETS GO!!!"

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@koleross I can see a timeline where people play with this stuff for a bit and then realize the obvious thing that it is not necessarily better or faster. It is just new and shiny and depending on the use falls by the wayside in favor of more useful and less flashy ways of doing things

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@erikaishii a benevolent demi deity

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@austin_walker Someone has most likely sent you this already but if they haven't. It is pretty amusing https://t.co/Ngcu6SbJMM

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@More_Civilized Let's go!

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@a_cado_appears I don't tweet at people super often but wanted to say you did a great job hosting the Prometheus pod, hope you get more opportunities to host if you are intertest in doing that.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@nchan I don't like the borg deco.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@CriticalRole @quiddie @matthewmercer @BrennanLM @CriticalRole this round table hits the exact right tone and structure that would be a great template for all CriticalRole behind the scenes programming going forward. It was structured enough to keep the conversation going but also allowed for real genuine moments and tangents.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@PackBenPack We on the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm 5'6, have the same problem. I typed 'best chair for short people" during lockdown and got the same sort of SEO BS.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@RobZacny For general computer/AV cables coiled up in storage bins separated and labeled by what the cable is used for data, video, sound, power. That way you know regardless of what video cable you need it will be in the video box. Any console specific cables stay with the console.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@patrickklepek 15 years ago I tracked down one of the very late revisions that was native USB. Exact same pad just with a modern connector. Even today the thing still works like a champ. I upgraded to an 8bitDO for most things but due the layout I still use the sidewinder for sega emulation

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@TessFowler I didn't grow up in LA but I've lived in Pasadena for 10 years and that's my reaction every year, this crazy dumb thing again? Makes the town unlivable for weeks on top of the moral wrong of the cops rounding up the unhoused to keep them out of the tv shots being super sketchy.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@DuckfeedTV I think the intro for this weeks ORB in the patron feed got mixed up, the intro says "Pinstripes & Poltergeists" when it should be The Better Man. The actual episode is right (The Better Man) just the intro is off.

[Tom Colen @realmajtom]

@nerdist Most likely its the original's son. This new one has big vibes of someone trying to be like Morpheus but not an exact carbon copy. He's less stoics and at times the persona seems to drop entirely and he looks surprised and unsure, something Morpheus never was in the originals.
