Coming July 12 & July 19 to Wrestling Playlists:
Go Big or Go Home: Pro Wrestling's Ultimatum in 1989
An in-depth look at a landmark year in pro wrestling history that was way too big to be one article.
@Clemkem72 Hi ... they will restart at some point. I needed to catch my breath but have a plan to bring them back. It may be a while longer but it will happen.
Looks like a lot of people didn't get Wrestling Playlists this morning. It looks like it did go out but it didn't go to my inbox either. I don't want to resend in case it goes out later but it's on the Substack if you want to check it out.
If you’re a young wrestler - listen to this. The freedom to fail. You shouldn’t be streaming every time you’re on a show. Go out, try stuff, find what works - keep it and dump the bad stuff.
Shoutout @realpwoloss@KrisZellner@NINaylor
If anyone is looking for cagematch data reconstructed I built a database inspired by Alexandra York’s “computer model” that’s 90’s wrestling geocities knock off. It has search & click throughs. be sure to hit the play button to elevate the experience. https://t.co/T4lyKZ5XcZ
#OnThisDay in 1969: St. Paul, Minnesota: The Hartford Courant carried an Associated Press item on Lillie Jordan’s 104th birthday, noting her unusual life philosophy: she never smoked, drank or chewed, and watched wrestling on television because “it takes my mind off things.”
I have to say, I am also honored that 30 minutes after Wrestling Playlists is supposed to go out, if people haven't received it I start hearing from them to make sure I'm alive.
Our first of several pieces we'll be writing for Bruiser. Here's @wrestlingbubble and I talking joshi and orchestral accompaniment and reading into things that may not be there
Competition among wrestling companies is strong both in the U.S. and Japan in ‘89. In Japan, that means trying to outdo one another with better wrestling. In the U.S., it means off-camera sabotage and tactical warfare.
@noestoyentuiter If I used 1/1/70, it's probably because it was the best date we had at the time. It's possible it's incorrect. If someone has come out with a different date since then, that is probably the correct one (and a case where I should update my version).
We are doing a World of Sport #matchclub. The plan is to watch one match a month and discuss it here at the end of the Month. You have all JUNE to watch it. I'll make a new post towards the end (28th or so) and we can discuss. The link to this month's match is in the post below.
