After documenting the post-2021 waves of bullying and the human cost of fear, silence, and trauma, one truth stands out: Nigeria has no shortage of evidence. What we lack is honesty.

Here are the hard questions that refuse to let us look away. They are designed to spark debate, discomfort, and — ideally — action.

1. If Sylvester Oromoni’s death in 2021 was truly a national turning point, why do viral videos of school assaults still surface in 2024, 2025, and 2026 with almost the same public reaction — outrage, temporary closures, then silence?

2. When a child dies amid allegations of bullying and the official process ends without systemic reform, what message does that send to the next potential victim sitting in a hostel tonight?

On Schools and Institutions

3. Why do so many prestigious and private schools only take decisive action after a video goes viral, rather than when the first parent complains or the first junior student reports intimidation?

4. If “seniority” culture is defended as tradition or character-building, at what exact point does it become institutionalised violence that schools are willing to protect for the sake of reputation?

5. How many more expulsions and temporary shutdowns will it take before schools invest in permanent, confidential reporting systems that students actually trust?
