Let’s understand what is happening here and why. Iran doesn’t have the military might to take on Israel and U.S. combined - it also knows that Israel is battle inured, its people are used to sirens and rockets and ducking into safe spaces and bunkers in their own homes. So instead, if Iran is able to create widespread panic in global centres of business and aviation, the calculation must be that Trump will come under increasing pressure from all the Gulf countries to reach a negotiated pause. Will that happen ? With Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader already dead, Trump might even be willing to step back, but Israel is calling this the last war with Iran.
