A new (bio) producer in Savoie, working the steep slopes on the idyllic northern shores of Lake Bourget. The Altesse vines are so old that "it would be impolite to mention their age". The northern bise means that alcohol is just 10.5%. Still finding their feet, but one to watch.

This is from a tiny producer with just 1.4ha of vines. And what it shows is that the character of the vivifying Ürtziger Würzgarten ('the spice garden of Ürtzig') is much stronger than any difference between producers. Paired with crab linguine. #MoselRiesling

This too is Burgundy. W/in St Bris, & w/ the same Kimmeridgian soils as neighbouring Chablis, is the pretty Irancy, which is Pinot Noir but can include up to 10% of the indigenous Caesar. Nice bit of age on this bottle. Tasting note: just imagine a red Chablis! #Burgundy
