Here’s why I think public executions are ok (done properly) and televised executions are bad.

PUBLIC means some contingent of the community can see it and even report about it. Some pictures (carefully done) or artist renderings could be circulated.

VIDEO means it will end up on every feed, school children around the world will see it, it will be recirculated, rewatched, unexpectedly and unwantedly seen, memed, taken out of context, cheapened, and used for bloodthirst and not merely justice.

Even in Scripture it was only locally viewable and the criminal’s body was required to be taken down quickly. It wasn’t meant for permanent display.
