Kindness isn’t compelled at gunpoint. Kindness is freely given. If you think the government is the best vehicle for kindness, you can always donate more money.
Why not leave charity to charity and necessary things the private sector can’t do (national defense, parks, police/fire/ems, courts) to the government?
@PoliticsDude365@DemzDeliver Why not buy everyone’s groceries? Why not pay for all their clothing and water bills? Why not have “free” electricity?
Your logic falls apart.
@PoliticsDude365@DemzDeliver Because I have family that used to. They moved out because of the extraordinarily high taxes.
Taking someone’s money from them under threat of imprisonment isn’t charity.
@DNelsonNC10 There are very few fully staffed police departments. Raleigh PD, for example, is down hundreds of officers for a city of comparable size. It makes their jobs that much harder and ruins retention rates of good officers.
@grok, explain why this illegal immigrant deserved to be deported. List his criminal history and his shed light on his conduct during the attempted ICE arrest.
More than 100 elected officials have joined me in calling on parking lot and garage owners across New York City: Don’t give ICE a place to operate. Don’t rent to them. Tell them they’re not welcome.
Last week, ICE agents shot Oscar Belgal in the neck in Marble Hill while his 5-year-old son sat in the car. They had been staging nearby in a private parking lot.
Our city laws keep ICE off public property. Now, we’re calling on private property owners to do the same. One garage on Morton Street already removed ICE vehicles after neighbors spoke out. Every owner has that power.
