Video games are maybe the dumbest possible use of Indian engineers.
Other kinds of software handle Indians better because most software interactions are short and the user can just move on and forget about the crappy software.
But in video games, users want to spend a lot of time with the software, so they will be less forgiving of bugs.
Games are supposed to be fun, they're not supposed to feel like work(ok maybe some games feel like work 😆).
Other software isn't as fun, and we've come to accept and expect bugs as part of the experience. This is what Indians do. Their presence just forces us all to slowly, imperceptibly lower our expectations.
It is not just white people who are fed up. It is all true Americans and true Texans who are tired of this.
I am a Hispanic, third generation Texan. I am proud to be a Christian, an American, a Texan, and a Fort Worthian.
I can promise you that the vast majority of real Americans and Texans are tired of India, tired of Islamic influence, and right now tired of Israel trying to change our way of life and priorities.
We are under attack by foreign interests, and our own government is helping make it happen. Democrats and Republicans are both responsible. They are both the enemy of the American people.
@PunishedKebbin Well the US is basically seeding India's eventual takeover of America's mature software cos. So you're probably right. See: IBM
Similar to how the US seeded China by sending all our manufacturing there.
India and China Win. America's elites win. Normal Americans get screwed.
@HowlingDeporter@demon_burner@elonmusk@nikitabier lol they emailed my job with screenshots thinking they did something. I’m union with no social media policy and I never heard a word about it from work. HR not gonna open up and email from Jogpreet Sanjeet lmfaooo
It's interesting that the Trump admin always seems to be so confused about H1b.
I mean, immigration policy is such a confusing rats nest, I don't really blame them.
But it's also interesting that they always seem to be confused in a way that presents the $100k fee as actually having a significant impact, when in reality it was just a headline-friendly EO with loopholes everywhere.
Probably led to more billable hours for immigration attorneys though, so congrats on that.
There was so much talk on my company's Blind about taking medical leaves for depression after getting a bad performance review or being put on PIP.
I was amazed at how common it was. The subtext was "I'm not depressed, but I'm worried about my status in the US. Should I go on medical leave so that I have time to prepare for interviews?"
Someone needs to do 2019-2026 hiring audit on Cisco
All their hiring managers are indian and they only hire their coethnics. Since at least 2022.
Lots of opportunity here for someone like @juicystar1908
I went to mass yesterday, and had the biggest white pill of the last 3 months when I opened my phone after Church.
I can't give any details, as thousands of investigations are ongoing, but I never want to hear someone say that the government is doing nothing on the H-1B issue.
While I understand that half of my comments section is people asking me to look in their city or state, there is a significant multiplier when these investigators ask me to look in specific parts of the country.
If you want me to look in your hometown, ask your state representative to get the state government involved.
I would love to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement. Your noise ensured that my posts reached individuals in positions who can get fraud investigations and visa revocations to happen.
The dude who built our original e-commerce site in 1999/2000 used it to get a job at Lowes doing similar work. He did a bang up good job for them for many years, then a few years ago was replaced by an H1B. A Western NC boy did good, went to work with an NC company for years, and was replaced by an Indian (dot, not feather).
So here's another story re: Indians from my time in biotech/biopharma.
Anywise, was in a meeting where we were putting together some analytical testing plans for dealing with a client's small molecule synthetic product. As we were progressing, I noticed something about the chemistry involved and saw that there was a way to make their reaction proceed faster (by avoiding some steric issues with the reactive site) and squeeze out some better yield for them, so I voiced this and noted that we could run it by our contact with the client synthetic group we were coordinating with.
There was an Indian guy in the meeting, IIRC he was a team lead or something in an adjacent group. For some reason, my suggested change must have crossed his izzat or something because he got very indignant about it. I mean, weirdly, out of proportionately smarmy about it. "That is just your opinion that this would work this way, but it is only opinion!"
Keep in mind that the change I was suggesting involves chemistry which is well-substantiated in the literature, so it wasn't "just my opinion." In fact, it involved a fairly well studied structurally-related rate law phenomenon and my suggesting this change wasn't some Nobel prize-worthy piece of chemical genius or anything.
But this guy just kept on and on about, how it wouldn't even work, the idea was stupid, there was no scientific basis for it, yada yada.
So I finally just went online and pulled up some papers on the overhead display which all showed that the type of change I was suggesting would do what I said it would. He still tried to argue with it, something about how I didn't really understand the chemistry the papers were talking about, etc.
Finally, I just went and pulled up a couple of papers which I had co-wrote as part of my undergraduate research which were specifically about this chemistry because my undergrad research group had been the group that more or less pioneered that chemistry and collected all the rate data and whatnot, which had subsequently been referenced in the literature I'd been pulling up. Finally, after he saw my name on the papers, he shut up and we ended up suggesting the changes to the client (which they accepted).
@sky_and_sunshin@freeadvent86806 If H1bs are included in a layoff, it contradicts (1) the assertion that the individual is in possession of skills that are in short supply, and (2) more broadly, it contradicts the assertion that there is a shortage of skilled workers.
We need to end visa changes. These people will abuse and defraud every single possible angle they can.
An H1b should not be able to transfer to an f1 or b1 because they got fired
This was sent to me...
@HarmeetKDhillon@USDOL
This is suspicious as heck. Apparently a remote position exists IF and only IF you require sponsorship.
Check out this job posting. It only continues for sponshorship applicants or non authorized apolicants who are not local.
Click first check box ("I am authorized to work in the US") and try both values of "Yes" and "No" for the question "Are you comfortable commuting to this job's location in Gallatin, Tennessee?" It will not proceed.
Do the same thing for the other two checkboxes - the one that requires sponsorship and the one stating you are not authorized to work in the US. It will only proceed if you choose "no" for commuting.
